Robert Wuthnow
This year the Roper Center Board of Directors will honor the work of Robert Wuthnow with the 2009 Mitofsky Award.

Wuthnow is the Andlinger Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for the Study of Religion at Princeton University. He has published widely in the sociology of religion, culture, and civil society. His recent books include After the Baby Boomers:  How Twenty- and Thirty-Somethings Are Shaping the Future of American Religion; America and the Challenges of Religious Diversity; and Saving America? Faith-Based Services and the Future of Civil Society.  He is currently working on a book tentatively titled Boundless Faith:  The Global Outreach of American Churches.

Distinguished Speaker:

William Schneider, a leading U.S. political commentator, is the Hirst Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University.  He is also the Cable News Network's senior political analyst and a contributing editor to National Journal and The Atlantic Monthly.

Schneider has been labeled "the nation's electionmeister" by The Washington Times and "the Aristotle of American politics" by The Boston GlobeCampaigns and Elections Magazine called him "the most consistently intelligent analyst on television."  Schneider has been named one of the fifty most influential Washington journalists by Washingtonian Magazine.  He is a member of the CNN political team that was awarded an Emmy for its 2006 election coverage and a Peabody for its 2008 coverage.
